Marking
The OCN units for all three levels were updated March 2010 and also renumbered.
An overview of the new units for each of the levels can be viewed here.
Marking
Evidence in workbooks / portfolios needs to be:
Authentic - the work of the learner (statement of ownership)
Current - up to date and show awareness of recent developments
Adequate - detailed enough for the level of training
Sufficient - enough evidence to give confidence that all assessment criteria have been ment.
Feedback to Learners
Needs to be clear
Written feedback for portfolios should start with feedback on the portfolio as a whole, what additions they need to send in to fully complete each assessment criteria and rounded off with a positive (eg 'apart from that the rest is fine')
If you email the feedback to the students, take a copy for the portfolio and send a copy in the post (just in case the student doesn't read their emails)
Give clear deadlines for additions required
Recording of Marking Decisions
Keep a record in the overview tab of the excel spreadsheet for the course. This record should detail:
When portfolio was marked and if additions were required
Date of additions requested
Date of additions received and marked
Date when portfolio/workbook is complete and sent on for moderation
