Standard Format Level 1 - for tutors
The course
The level 1 course is called an 'Introduction to Forest School'. It consists of just one unit, which covers understanding the Forest School approach to learning, methods of identifying woodland species, a bit on understanding the impact of FS on woodlands and basic hazard and risk understanding.
Teaching and course layout
The course can be taught as a 2-day course, together with a half-day session.
This half-day session can be done as a mentor visit (though it is important to know the mentors and how they might support the student or not).
Or it can be a 'tutorial' style half-day session, with the students sharing their visits and their understanding.
This half-day session also provides an opportunity to ensure that the workbook is completely signed off and ready for marking.
Portfolio - Workbook
There is just one workbook. Students sign the front cover and confirm their ownership of the content.
The back page is the marking page and is also where the moderator can sign once they have internally verified it.
